because that is how you get talking cats inserted into your favorite show,

right lolaann1?

Either that, or Andrew Dabb has been has been lurking around spn_bigpretzel and all of those YEK posts.

I found the rest the episode amusing.Of course, I was raised watching all of those Looney Tunes. And it was great to see B.J. Hunnicutt Mike Farrell as an old contact of John's.

Also, while I have read some about the fact that this season being all about perception (and we saw that last week with Dean and Cas), and that there is the possibility of some of Sam's flashback may not be what they seem, I began to see more of that this episode. They must of referred to living in a dream world two or three times and it made me wonder how much of Sam's flashbacks could be a dream world. I think I have more thoughts on that, but I am too tired.

LOL about the cat! ('Course, we know Ben Edlund lurks hither, thither, and yon, so....)

But yeah, something's definitely up with Sam's flashbacks, and Amelia's dad really gave me Hallucifer vibes. In the scene where Sam was washing dishes, he even *rubbed his hand*--not very hard or for very long, but it was there. And Amelia introduced him by his right name? And overprotective Dad doesn't have a single comment about the events of "Slash Fiction"?? To quote Ellery Queen, "There's something wrong. There's something crazy. And I can't figure out what it is."

I know! All of those things were off! Plus, for most women who have a relationship with Sam, things don't end well and not in the "my husband comes back from the dead" kind of way, but in the "my life as a hunter gets you killed" kind of way. Just saying.

I have to admit that I did wonder for a brief moment if our bigpretzel kittehs had reached fanservice status, but decided that was wishful thinking. Still very cool though. I was sick enough to want the kitteh to be the big bad *hangs head*.

I also squeed about BJ Hunnicutt *g* and was very intrigued with the the unexpected plot twists in Sam's missing year. It gave me some much needed renewed faith in the writers. I have to admit I was really starting to lose faith until the last couple of eps. I guess I was a bad fan :(

The last couple of episodes have helped. I have tried to remain more spoiler free this year than last, but I will admit that one of the the few things I did know had to do with the pacing of the arc, so that has helped me with my own patience.

Here, have a kitteh:

Also, after Dean said "Let's play Cowboys and Bloodsuckers", I know want an icon of him in his cowboy gear next to Benny.

LOL! Cas kittehs!

I loved the cartoons and BJ!!! I'm so glad we're finally getting to the meat of Sam's year - SOMETHING HINKY

Also, the cat was kind of funny.

I know! I am glad we are getting somewhere with Sam. Or at least some solid clues!

I swear I LOL'd at the talking cat because it instantly made me think of spn_bigpretzel :D The cartoon stuff was really fun.

You bring up a good point about Sam's flashbacks. I'm wondering that too because some things just didn't seem right in this latest one with Amelia's dad. It's interesting that she referred to Sam by his real name. Did he figure that he's been off the radar for so long that it would be okay? I just don't think I can see that... And then her husband being alive. Something's up and I'm really curious about what it is.

The cat was great and I think many of us thought about the Big Pretzel!

Several people have pointed out that she referred to Sam by his real name, as well as Sam rubbing his hand where his scar was like he did when he was trying to get rid of Hallucifer. So something is up with those memories!

Okay, the Sam's 'dream world' thing has really got me thinking and now I'm going to prove that I spend far to much time pondering this show, because this probably means nothing.

The fact that Sam became Mr. Fix-it Handyman bugged me. I always felt like it was pretty much canon that Dean was the one who was good with his hands and that Sam generally didn't have much interest in that sort of thing. Then *boom* all of a sudden give the boy a wrench and he can fix anything. I'm not saying that Sam is incapable of fixing things, he's a smart guy, but I feel like he never cared enough to learn and usually had someone like Dean or Bobby around to do it for him. Just seemed 'off' to me. Then again, either the writers don't obsess as much about the nuances of characterization as we do, or I'm completely off base in my thinking.

I think we all spend a lot of time thinking about Show!

But there is much off about the flashbacks...the "Mr. Fix-it" angle, the fact that most woman don't survive relationships/encounters with Sam Winchester, she used his real name, he was rubbing his hand like he did to get rid of Hallucifer...all of it...
Nov. 30th, 2012 02:06 pm (UTC)
I know! On premiere night when they showed her lying there in bed I said to my husband "well that poor girl's dead meat" and he looked at me like I was a sicko (because he's only a casual observer) I had to explain the avg lifespan of a Sam Winchester hookup.

.... should be working but hey it's only just now 9 and I am still working on my first cup of coffee. You have to ease into these things.

Mostly, I think you might be reading too much into it.

But, if we want to talk about it: Sam's memories of Amelia are tinged with the same sort of effect that Bobby's had in Death's Door, rather than the orange of Sam's memories in The Girl Next Door. (This is the sort of crap that I pay attention to ever since high school English.)
Nov. 30th, 2012 02:09 pm (UTC)
I will admit that I don't pay attention to the effects surrounding the flashbacks. I could not tell you there was a different tone between Death's Door vs The Girl Next Door until you pointed it out. Though yes, my eye does see the difference in Purgatory because it is Purgatory.

But I do think that given what the writer's have said that this season is about perception, that Sam's perception of his year away from hunting is going to be different from what it actually was. Just like Dean's perception of "leaving Cas behind in Purgatory" was different from Cas choosing to stay behind.

I mean come on...really? Do we expect Amelia to be the first girl to survive an encounter with Sam Winchester? Or for Sam just to think that she did? Her only hope is if you are right and her husband Don is a witch!
Nov. 30th, 2012 02:33 pm (UTC)
Well, something's going on, sure. I just really hope it's Don the witch. Lol. Ooh, maybe Amelia's not a real person. She's just something that Don the witch made, like a puppet. And her dad is a sad old man who saw her and adopted her one day. And then Don was like, hey-- oh well. P.S. I like Amelia's dad way more than Amelia herself.

(It's after 1am here... that's my excuse for the randomness.)

Mostly, I think you might be reading too much into it

But, but, but... what about the vast conspiracy that is DON!? It's interweaved throughout the seasons and thanks to you I'm now convinced it is THE story arc that will tie the entire series together. Maybe Don is God? Yes, that's it. I probably should have put that stunning revelation under a spoiler cut.
Dec. 1st, 2012 12:40 am (UTC)
Lol. There's this company here named Don that sells meat. Anyway, its slogan is "Is Don. Is Good." So clearly, that's a typo and all this time they should have been saying, "Is Don. Is God."

You're totally onto something there! And when Sam almost opened the wedding album, but was interrupted... I guarantee that meant something. If he'd opened it, there would have either been a big honking photo of Lucifer or the YEK, maybe both. The YEK in a wedding dress, can't you picture it? AWWWWWWW
Dec. 2nd, 2012 03:23 am (UTC)
The YEK's bride.

Lol, if we were having big pretzel awards, I think you'd win "Most Likely To Convince Someone Else To Post A Picture Of A Cat".
Dec. 2nd, 2012 03:35 am (UTC)
Did someone say YEK bride?

That is exactly what Sam would have seen had he opened that wedding album ;)

Too bad they didn't have lolcats when I graduated high school or I would have definitely been one of those 'most likely' list ;)
